The Acquisition Fund We are building a collection of indoor and outdoor fine art for public viewing. The Residency program creates one new work for the collection per year. However, many wonderful artists are not chosen or do not seek a residency. Their work should be represented. It is for this purpose that this restricted fund exists.
On April 15th, 2000, Monarch received a $10,000 Matching Fund Grant for this fund.
Capital Investment Fund This fund helps us maintain a cash reserve and an Endowment seed to fund our existing programs. It protects our future stability by setting aside funds for investment. With these funds, our charitable organization can continue to be a leading center for artistic expression and creativity. If you feel that you would like to support our efforts to assist artists with their careers and to bring quality work and programs to the public, consider establishing an endowment in your name for Monarch. Please contact us to ask us how.
Program Sustainability and Expansion Fund $250,000 is earmarked for this fund. It supports the following programs:
Emerging Artist Grant: $500 is given to the emerging artist to help them in pursuit of their career in the visual arts. Monarch receives a work created by the artist. To date recipients have been, Shaw Osha, a painter; Leann Powers, a metal fabricator; and, Andrew Feuk, sculptor.
Professional Artist Residency: An honorarium of $2,500 and room and board for a four month period is given to the chosen artist. When money is available, airfare is paid. The artist is expected to create a major work of art to be included in the permanent collection. Recipients: Urs Twellman, Switzerland; Brian Kennedy, Ireland; Pat Warner, Ca.; Pat Warnick, Al.; "Nuri" Leigh Burville, Wa.; Tom Yody, Or.
Symposia: Monarch hosts international professional artists in a six to eight week program. The artists live on site and create work for the permanent collection. This is a time of creative energy and sharing with those from different cultures.
Education Program: Conferences on issues vital to contemporary art are hosted by Monarch. Visiting Artist Workshops are arranged so that artists and interested individuals may benefit from the techniques and philosophy expressed by professional visual and performance artists. A Student Mentoring Program places interested high school and college students with a professional artist for practical hands on training. A Children's Art Program is currently being designed for the summer months.
Visual Exhibitions Program: Currently, Monarch hosts an Annual Outdoor exhibit with loaned pieces of sculpture as well as pieces from the permanent collection. The Indoor Gallery presents solo shows for emerging and professional visual artists.
