Washington State American Legion Band

(Since 1924)

The American Legion Band is always looking for new members. We encourage anyone who plays a standard band instrument to play with us.

From 1925 to present, the band has participated in every state American Legion Convention and has performed at the opening day of the yachting season of the Olympia Yacht Club. It has lead scores of parades, including the Olympia Pet Parade every year since its inception.

The sixty-member band is the only remaining American Legion musical organization in Washington and is one of only a handfull of similar organizations nationally.

Our volunteer musicians range in age from high school students to senior retirees. Many of our members have rediscovered the pleasure of instrumental music after not playing for many years, and others are finding our group as another outlet for their musical talents. Just come to our rehearsals and you'll fit right in!

We play generally 25 to 30 concerts and parades Year round. Rehearsals are held on Thursday nights, 7-9 pm in the Music Room at Saint Martin's University which is located off of College Street in Lacey.
From I-5 North or South take the College Street exit to College and go South. Turn left at 6th Avenue then immediately right into the campus. The Music building will be on the left after the dorms.

No auditions are required and no tuition fees are charged. We will issue you a jacket, hat and tie clasp, you supply grey pants and white shirt to complete our concert uniform. Our marching uniform consists of a special polo shirt, special cap, the grey pants and black shoes. Contact the band manager if you need the marching outfit. Although we are the State Departmental American Legion Band, you do not have to be a veteran or member of the American Legion to play in the band. We are, however, proud of our great nation and many of our functions are patriotic.
